About PedalKin

Hi! I'm a mom in Denver. I loved biking before kids, and I love it just as much now, with a little one along for the ride.

These days I ride a little slower. Okay, a lot slower. I'm no longer barreling down from Maroon Bells at 35 mph. Now our pace is set by truck spotting, every squirrel we pass, and water of any kind (puddles count), plus at least one very important snack stop. But it's every bit as fun, and the giggles from the back seat beat any personal record.

Before kids: Singletrack, wildflowers, zero snack stops.

After kids: Paved path, two extra riders, many snack stops.

Why I started it

What changed after kids wasn't the riding. It was the planning. With a toddler, you're riding in the window between naps and snacks, and there's no time to scout a new trail. Is this path paved the whole way? Does it run right next to traffic? Is there a playground to stop at, or a restroom when someone suddenly needs one?

I couldn't find one place that answered those questions, so I built PedalKin.

What you'll find here

Say hi

Found a great trail we're missing, or spotted something wrong? Email me at [email protected].

A promise about the scores

Trail scores come from open map data and the same rules for every trail, explained on how we score trails. They're never paid for. If PedalKin ever earns money from links to bikes or gear, the page will say so clearly, and it will never change how a trail is scored.
